I am on a journey. I am searching for the art in my art. I am traveling hundreds of miles. Alone. Finding beauty in the new but more importantly I am in search of the connectivity that binds. 

I have traveled from Texas to Upstate New York to spend a month creating art in a residency program and my first work is certainly exploring the theme I set for the trip.

I thought you might like to see an update of the Pear drawing.  It is still a work in progress but it should be completed later this week!!! I like to keep artwork going in the studio so students can see that I take creating art seriously!

I ran into a work of art today that made my heart stop. 

Her name is Second Omens and she is just a little graphite drawing  8" x 5" but she spoke directly to my heart.  San Francisco based artist and illustrator, Karla Ortiz created this work as part of an amazing collection called, Omens. Here is a link to all the pieces in the show. Lately I have been fascinated with Dutch Baroque still life painting. Imagine my delight when I ran into this butterfly perched on a tulip in the midst of the a glorious floral arrangement at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, painted by one of my favorite artists Jan van Huysum....
